With the beautiful weather over the bank holiday, we are sure one or two of you will have enjoyed a BBQ in the garden. Nothing quite beats the smell of burgers and bangers cooking on the barbeque when the sun is shining!
We get a lot of enquiries about catering for barbeques, so the host have nothing left to do but sit back and enjoy a tasty meal and a cold beer or two. But if you are planning your own barbeque, what are a few top tips to make sure you are not a slave to the grill?
- Prep like a pro
The key to a great BBQ is timing, no one wants their meat to go cold whilst you desperately rush around the kitchen slicing bread buns! We recommend prepping as much as you can before your guests arrive. Slice buns, make your salads and if you are having a go at homemade burgers, prepare these in advance and take the pressure off.
- Explore the World
Everyone has been to a BBQ with a good selection of burgers but why not opt for something a little unexpected and introduce your guests to some BBQ favourites from across the world. One of our favourites is the South African Boerewors. Boerewors are a coiled sausage and look a lot like Cumberland sausages but contain a high percentage of beef. They are traditionally cooked over charcoals making them the perfect addition to a BBQ!
- Don’t forget the veggie options!
With more and more people opting for a plant-based diet, it’s unsurprising the market for great meat free barbeque alternatives has exploded. Brands like Linda McCartney have great vegetarian and vegan barbeque selections for your guests and there are so many tasty salads options that you can wow your guests with.
- Marinate your meat
Great flavour takes time and a simple seasoning can quickly be overpowered by the barbequing process, so make sure you give your meats plenty of time to marinate. We recommend marinating overnight for the best results, and don’t be afraid to experiment with your seasonings.
- Enjoy yourself!
Barbeques are the epitome of laid-back catering, so don’t overthink your event and remember to have fun! Your guests have come to enjoy your company as well as the food so don’t be a slave to the grill. If you follow our tips then we are sure you will have the perfect barbeque.
